Mark Bumgarner

Mark Bumgarner’s musical style has been described as pure “Southern Americana,” and yet it is so much more. His influences span the American landscape and beyond. From the traditional sounds of the Appalachian mountains to the west coast country and folk rock sounds of the '60s and '70s, from Tin Pan Alley to the rockin' blues of the deep south, all have left their lasting impressions and are ever present in his work both as a performer and a songwriter.

As a songwriter, Mark shows a sensibility in touch with the past and present—both lyrically and musically drawing from classic themes and tones that resonate as much today as ever before.

Live, his dynamic delivery as a vocalist and guitarist are a combination of both power and subtlety while blending original material, obscure finds, and classic gems delivered with his own unique touch. Mark's engaging style connects him to his audience, whether it's on a large festival stage or in an intimate listening room.

In addition to his performing and songwriting, Mark also hosts several events throughout the year, including the annual MerleFest Band Competition.

"Mark Bumgarner is pretty much the definition of Americana.”

Mark Bumgarner has his feet muddy from Carolina soil. It’s as if he were plowing a field, Northbound row Country, and Southbound Bluegrass. Either direction it's honest and heartfelt.
